Matthew Craig Bowers, 36, of Greenville went home to be with His Lord March 14, 2012 in Crested Butte, Colorado. A celebration of Craig's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Family Fellowship under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Felder, Dr. Kelly Carr, Randy Hancock, Gary Sprinkle and Calvin Davis will be officiating. Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Born December 31, 1975, in Greenville, Craig was the son of Bobby and Elizabeth (Nance) Bowers. On July 10, 1999 in Greenville, he married Kimberly Diane Palmore.

He graduated from Greenville High School in 1994 and received his Master's Degree from Texas A&M Commerce. He was currently employed as Assistant Principal at Royse City High School. Before working at R.C.H.S., he worked several years as a Greenville High School Junior English Teacher and a basketball coach.

Craig was an athlete. He could be seen many weekends on area golf courses with friends and family. He partnered many times with his brother or buddy to compete in local golf tournaments in which he was very competitive. He continued his coaching skills by coaching using his son and daughter in YMCA youth sports. Craig was a faithful member of Dixon Baptist Church where he served as youth minister during his college years. Craig was a devoted husband and father and was very loved and respected by not only his friends, family, and co-workers but his many students as well.

His survivors include his wife; parents; son Caden Matthew Bowers; daughter Caroline Ruthann Bowers; brother Kevin Bowers and wife Charmaina; sister Katie Bowers and Drew Holloway; mother-in-law, Debbie Ducote and husband Russ all of Greenville; father-in-law, Terry Palmore and wife Teresa of Emory; sisters-in-law, Heather Priest and Christy Miller and husband Adam Miller; nieces, Baylee, Kenna, Lisa, and Marissa and nephews, Travis, Jacob, Keaton, Kamden and Stone all of Greenville; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rev. James C. and Patsy Nance and Ray E. and Jennie Bowers.

Pallbearers will Brandon Adams, Danny Black, Scott Coffman, Gary Hale, Rusty Hardin, Richard Pense, Jeremy Powell and David Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Bowers, Matt Palmore, Adam Miller, Drew Holloway, Corky Nance, Rick Espino, Dallas Bookout, Franky Morgan, Tom Shaw, Joel Stanford, Justin Waddle and Brit Brignon.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Caden and Caroline Bowers Memorial Fund, at the American National Bank.
