Norvin Bruce Bennett was born in Shingle Springs, El Dorado County, California on August 1, 1904, to John T. Bennett and Elisabeth M. Burke Bennett. His siblings were Cecil L., Elsie G., Melva M., and Viola L. Bennett.

Norvin grew up in Mountain, Siskiyou County, California, where his father was a salesman at a dry goods store. In about 1926, Norvin married a girl living in the area by the name of Julia E. Carmean, and three children were born to them. They moved to Oregon where they lived for awhile before moving to the Hayward area, Alameda County, California.

Mr. Bennett was a job superintendent for several contractors including J. A. Casson Company, Close Building Supply, Jones and King and others around the Hayward area. His biggest job in the Hayward area was the paving of the runways at the Hayward airport.

For 18 years Mr. Bennett worked around the Hayward area. Then about 1953, he was contracted with Caputo and Keeble, a San Jose company whose assignment brought him to Tuolumne County. At the time of his death, Mr. Bennett was contracted with Beerman and Jones Construction Company.

Norvin and his wife, Julia, purchased a ranch at Yankee Hill, east of Columbia. It was there that he passed away from heart attack on Tuesday, June 2, 1959, at the age of 54.

Funeral services were held the following Saturday at the Terzich-Wilson Funeral Home in Sonora with the Reverend George Crichton of the Columbia Presbyterian church officiating.

Interment took placed took place at the Columbia City cemetery.

Mr. Bennett was survived by, Julia, his wife of 33 years, two sons, a daughter and four sisters.
