Gertrude was a 33 year resident of Sonora. She passed away in a San Andreas hospital at the age of 88. Her funeral services were officiated by the Reverend Bennett Haman at Heuton Memorial Chapel in Sonora. Burial was in the Columbia City Cemetery.

Mrs. Basye was survived by two daughters, Marian and Bette, three brothers, A. C. Gemberling, Edwin Gemberling and Howard Gemberling, all of Montana, and two sisters, Helen Dunbar of Washington and Evelyn Brewer of Montana. She was also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Gemberling.
