NAMPA—Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Flahiff Chapel, Caldwell, for William Preston Applegate, 80, of 324 Seventh Avenue South, Nampa, who died Tuesday in a Nampa nursing home. The Rev. Sam Hendrix will officiate and interment will be at Wilder. Memorials may he given to the heart fund.
Born Jan. 10, 1884, in Fayetteville, Ark., as a child he moved with his family to the Oklahoma Indian territory. He married Bertha Mae Harding, Dec. 25, 1910 in Morrison, Okla. They moved to Emmett in 1922 where he was a locomotive engineer on the construction of the Black Canyon Dam. At the completion of the dam, they moved to Caldwell. They moved to Wilder in 1942 and to Nampa in 1962. Mr. Applegate was a farmer for many years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves four sons, Albert, Wilder; Delbert, Grants Pass, Ore.; Melvin, Seattle, and Robert, Nampa; a daughter, Mrs. Lorie Holmes, Seattle; a sister, Mrs. Leafy Wells, Ponca City, Okla.; 15 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
