Mrs. Nettie Eloise Davis Eason, age 92, of Douglasville, began her Heavenly journey on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. She was born on November 29, 1921, in Lawrenceville, GA, the daughter of the late Demetrius O’Restus Davis and the late Nettie MacIntyre Davis. Mrs. Eason graduated from Douglas County High School in 1939 and, after her 18th birthday, married the love of her life Howard Wilson “Mink” Eason. Her life’s work was mainly as a Seamstress—having worked in 2 sewing factories and at the Singer Sewing Center; however, she did begin a new career as a Claims Processor with Continental Insurance, where she remained until her retirement in the late 1970s. She was a faithful member of Prays Mill Baptist Church where she was a devoted Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Howard Wilson “Mink” Eason; her sons, Fred H. Eason and Larry D. Eason; and her brothers, Bill Davis and Harold Davis.
She is survived by her daughters-in-law, Brenda H. Eason and Donna S. Eason, both of Douglasville; grandchildren: Laurie Eason Kaplan, and her husband, Julian Kaplan, of Boston, MA, Todd Davis Eason and his wife, Lisa Wiggins Eason of Douglasville, Kristi Eason Noble of Cartersville, and Jamie Scott Eason and his wife, Amy Bodnar Eason, of Douglasville; great grandchildren: Alexandra Kaplan, Davis Kaplan, Stephan Kaplan, Blake Montcalm, Glen Montcalm, Logan Eason, Reagan Eason, Garrett Eason, Allie Eason, and Ella Eason; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Neal Beard officiating. Also speaking are Mary Bunch and Lanier Gable. Music will be rendered by Danny Stovall accompanied by Brenda Singleton.
Interment will follow in the Prays Mill Cemetery with Todd Eason, Jamie Eason, Glen Montcalm, Blake Montcalm, Garrett Eason, Willie Moore, Davis Richardson, and Kile Waters serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ken Davis, Logan Eason and Reagan Eason, along with her past Sunday School Class members—of whom she affectionately referred to as “her girls”.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 5:00-8:00 P.M.
