Dan came from Black Mountain, North Carolina. He had a family in Black Mountain, Buncombe CO., N.C. (Asheville area). He relocated to Georgia and remarried Viola Estelle Banks, native of Saluda, S.C.(my maternal grandmother) when she was 18 yrs of age. Dan was 40. With Viola he had another family of (4) children and lived/worked in the communities of Fair Play and Bill Arp, GA as a sawmill operator. The children are: Maude Chapman (deceased May 2001), Ruth Thayer of Lithia Springs, GA. (deceased June 2007), Janette Moore (deceased October 2003) of Bill Arp, GA., and Daniel H. Burnette, Jr. of New York City, NY (deceased January 2007). He is said to have been a gentle soul and loved music and people. He died just two months after becoming a father -one last time at the age of 68 - of a sudden heart attack. He died @ home in bed @ 5050 Big A Road, Douglasville, GA. where the house still stands, a white frame house.
