Evelyn L. Miller Cox, 96, of Hoopeston, passed away at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at her home.

Evelyn was born on Dec. 5, 1919 in Armstrong, the daughter of Owen and Rosa (Kelley) Grider. She married Walter L. Miller on Sept. 30, 1939 in Williamsport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1965. She later married Arlo J. Cox on April 12, 1968 in Armstrong. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1992.

She is survived by two sons, Jack L. (Sarah) Miller and Charles (Doug) Miller; one daughter, Evelyn Jane (Phil) Matson; daughter-in-law, Wendy Miller; sister, Colleen (Bill) Martin; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one more great-great-grandchild on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; beloved son, Curt Miller; brother, Curt Grider and two sisters, Helen Jobson and Leota Bailey.

Evelyn worked at TRW and Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital, where she was the head of housekeeping for several years, until her retirement. She was a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Northfork Conservation Club. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors. Evelyn enjoyed canning, making candy, shopping and making ceramics. She also loved to drink a cold PBR with her fried fish on Friday nights. Evelyn's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and she loved them all very much.
