Hall of Fame Football Player. Born in Orillia, Washington, he was a receiver beginning his career in the National Football League with the New York Yankees in 1927. For nine seasons, he played with the New York Yankees 1927 to 1928, the New York Giants 1930 to 1935 and Brooklyn Dodgers in 1936. He ended his career 35 receptions, 560 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns and was selected to the All-Pro team four times in 1930, 1931, 1933 and 1934. He also played in Major League Baseball as a right fielder for two years with the St. Louis Browns in 1929 and 1930. In 143 games, he had 111 hits, 2 homeruns, 51 runs batted in and a .257 batting average. In 1981, at the age of 78, became the oldest person elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame up to that time. He died at age 95 in Kent, Washington.
