Wendy M. (Wardell) Armstrong, 56, passed away Thursday, June 23 in the Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI.

She leaves two children, Scott A. Armstrong and his wife Elizabeth of Webster and Jessica E. Armstrong of Worcester; two grandsons, Ethan and Shamus; her mother, Shirley A. (Marotta) Wardell of Worcester; six sisters, Sherrie Lapriore and her husband Gennaro of Worcester, Elaine Rotan and her husband Jeff of New Castle, DE, Toni Lane of Worcester, Jody Elliot and her husband Jeff of Fitzwilliam, NH, Tracy Garceau of Wilmington, DE and Christine Wardell of Worcester; a brother, George Wardell, Jr. of Worcester; her dearest friends, Stephanie Barrett, Jack and Dian Sjogren and Roberto Sebastiani and nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late George F. Wardell, Sr. and graduated from Holy Name High School.

Wendy worked 26 years for the US Postal Service in Worcester, she began her career as a casual clerk and was currently working as a mail carrier. She was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 12 and served at one time as editor. Wendy loved being outdoors, especially the beach. She was an avid animal lover, not only did she touch the lives of people she would meet, she did the same with their pets. She would not only deliver mail to the people on her route but also provided treats to their dogs.

Visiting Hours are Sunday, June 26, from 4 to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM in CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the name of Addison Lacaire to the Worcester Fire Department Credit Union, 34 Glennie St., Worcester, 01605.
