Bro. Barnes, as he was affectionately known, had many different occupations: airman, pastor, teacher, farmer, security guard, carpenter, bus driver, volunteer fireman and poll worker. He was a wonderful husband, daddy, granddaddy, great-granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his Lord and Savior above all but also loved people and wanted more than anything for all that he met to know his best friend, Jesus. He was known for reminding others of the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." He longed to know more about Jesus and was a lifelong learner of the Bible. He loved the outdoors and walked 2-3 miles daily for enjoyment.
