Television Personality. A talented personality, he was considered to be one of the best Announcers of the 1970s. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, he began his career on the KROW Radio Station in Oakland, California. After graduating from college in 1948, he moved to New York, and in 1952 he began working as a staff announcer for CBS. He went on to host or be the announcer on such game shows as, "Now You See It" (1984), "The Love Experts" (1978), "Three For The Money" (1975), "The Cross-Wits" (1975-1980), "Tattletales" (1974-1980), "The $10,000 Pyramid" (1973, 1982-1985), "Dealer's Choice" (1973-1975), "Eye Guess" (1966-1967), "The Face Is Familiar" (1966), "Password" (1961-1965), "Split Second" (1972-1975), "To Tell The Truth" (1961-1964), "The Price Is Right" (1961-1965), "The Big Surprise" (1955-1957), and host of "The Wheel of Fortune" from 1975 until his death in 1988. On January 14, 1986, he appeared as himself in an episode of the television series, "The A-Team."
