According to oral history, Samuel Bonaparte "Bone" January was purchased as a slave by the Buckner family, whose farm was across the road from the Cane Ridge Meeting House, where he was a faithful parishioner of Rev Barton Warren Stone (an active abolitionist) and the Cane Ridge Church. Bone lived and worked at this farm until at least the 1870s.
