GALLIHER, JUDITH DAYTON Judith Dayton Galliher was born July 27, 1951 in Redlands, CA and passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011, after a valiant fight with ovarian cancer. Her husband and son were by her side. Judith was raised in Whittier, CA. She graduated from Whittier High School in 1969. She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of San Diego and decided to settle here. She was a Special Education teacher in the Chula Vista Elementary School District for over 25 years, primarily at Rogers Elementary and Kellogg Elementary Schools. She was passionate about her family, friends, teaching and her San Diego Padres. Although, thanks to her husband, she was also a closet Boston Red Sox fan. She enjoyed trips to Maui and New England. She especially loved all things tropical including her favorite "flip-flops". Judith had a vast circle of friends and cherished each and every one of them. She is survived by her husband James, son Joseph Baranowski, step-children Kenneth and Heather, daughter-in-law Rachel, grandson James Brian, her brother John Dayton of La Habra, California, her mother Emma Dayton of Whittier, CA, her nieces Sarah and Rebecca and Sarah's husband Daniel. Services are scheduled for May 13th at 2 p.m. at Chula Vista Presbyterian Church, 940 Hilltop, Chula Vista, CA 91911. A private interment will be held at the Miramar National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on May 16th.
