Velma - Former area resident GILBERT CHESTER FLYNN, 69, died Thursday, May 27, 1993, at his home in Mead.
Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Velma Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Dennis officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Murray Funeral Home of Durant.
Mr. Flynn was born Aug. 2, 1923, at Velma. He was a retired federal employee and a TEC5 veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW and the Sheriff's Posse in Pharr, Texas. He married Flora Gene Sparks on Jan. 23, 1943 in Lawton.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Billy Wayne Flynn of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Beverley Ann Flynn of Roseburg, Ore.; two brothers, James Flynn of Roseville, Calif., and Raymond Flynn of Lacygne, Kan.; and three sisters, Jayne Sparks, Dorothy Henshaw and Mary Louise Lorenzen, all of Marlow.
