Major League Baseball Player. Born Donald Eugene Cardwell in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was a pitcher for fourteen seasons (1957 to 1970) with the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets and Atlanta Braves. He was a member of the 1969 World Champion "Miracle Mets" Team and appeared in one game during the World Series. His other notable career highlights include hurling a no-hit game on May 15, 1960 against the St. Louis Cardinals, and recording a career high 15 victories with the Cubs in 1961. In 410 regular season games, Cardwell won 102 and lost 138 with a 3.92 lifetime ERA.
