LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, February 9, 1984. 'Funeral services for Vesta K. Denton, 3055 Clarksville St., were held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel. John Cannon, minister of the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Restland Cemetery at Roxton. Mrs. Denton died Monday, Feb. 6, at Stonebrook Care Center. She was born June 14, 1891, in Pickens County, Ala., a daughter of Cathey Alexander White and Josephine Evdora Propst White. She came to Lamar County with her family in 1895. She was married to Lee Andrew Denton Sr. in 1909 and they lived in Roxton until 1942 when they moved to Paris. She worked for several years at Camp Maxey and her husband was employed by Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home until his death in March, 1963. She had been a member of the Church of Christ and a member of its Smithy Allen Sunday School Class. Surviving are one son, Lee A. Denton Jr. of Paris; one daughter, Cecile L. Roden of Paris; four grandchildren, Pamela Denton, Gene Roden Jr. and Marcus L. Roden, all of Paris, and Suzanne Roden of Tyler; six great-grandchildren; one brother, James White of Paris and a number of nieces and nephews.'
