Composer, Journalist. His major compositions are operas: "The King's Henchman"(1927), and "Peter Ibbetson" (1931), both performed at the Met; there are a number of symphonic works as well. He published three books of music criticism, and for many years was radio commentator for New York Phiharmonic and Metropolitan Opera broadcasts. From 1942 until 1948, Taylor was president of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
