He was born in Cashtown, on October 4, 1929, son of the late Clarence A. and Clara B. (Scott) Bucher.
Don was a 1947 graduate of Gettysburg High School.
He was a retired fruit farmer. Don was a member, former deacon, and elder of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Cashtown. His additional memberships include: Fairfield Fire Co. and EMS Veteran Member; 50 plus year member of the Cashtown Fire Co.; 40 year member and past president of the Cashtown Lions Club; 50 year member and Past Master of Good Samaritan Masonic Lodge #336 of Gettysburg; Valley of Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Shrine; Valley Home Lodge of Fraternal Order of Odd Fellows; former member of the Fairfield Senior Citizens; and charter member of the Cannonaders Square Dance Club.
Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth B. "Betsy" (Blocher) Bucher; a brother, C. William Bucher and wife, Jane of Cashtown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Rebert and Ellen Cook.
A Memorial Service will be held, February 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. from the Trinity United Church of Christ in Cashtown, with the Rev. Austin Chinault and the Rev. Dr. Kim Blocher officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Burial along with a Masonic Service and Committal Service will take place at Flohrs Cemetery, McKnightstown, the 4th at 11 a.m.
