Henry Washington Brown (stone lists middle initial as "M" but this was a transcription error) enlisted on August 23, 1861, at Worcester, Massachusetts. He was born in East Thompson, CT but Worcester was the closest enlistment location. He was assigned to the 21st Massachusetts Volunteers, Infantry. He fought in North Carolina, with Burnside's Expedition, followed by Second Bull Run, Chantilly and Antietam. In 1862, while at Fredricksburg and Chancellorsville, he reenlisted in the Artillery. He was with Generals Buford and Merritt at Gettysburg. He died, in Philadelphia, at Satterlee Hospital, of malaria, and is buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
