He was mustered into service on September 1st 1861 into company C. At the Battle of Malvern Hill on July 1st 1862 he was shot and wounded in his right knee. The Injury caused him to not be able to continue in his service and he was discharged on a Surgeons Certificate on August 20th 1862. After the War he got involved in The Grand Old Army of the Republic and was a Member of Post 2 in Philadelphia. He lived at 121 Rochelle Street in Wissahickon at the time of his death.
