George Harrison Fitch, 54, of 902 N. Klein St., died at 4:40 a.m. yesterday at Memorial hospital. He had been ill several months.

Mr. Fitch was born Oct. 22, 1893 in Springfield, and at the time of his death was employed as service manager of Gietl Brothers garage.

He was formerly associated with the Albert Riesch Motor Co. in 1928 and from 1920 to 1935 with the R.C. Schell Motors. He was with the Lindberg Utilities Co. until two years ago when he accepted the position with the Gietl Brothers firm.

He was a member of the Sangamon County Pointer and Setter club.

He was married to Ida Van Devener in Springfield. She survives with four sons, Bernard, and Byron, both of Springfield; Clyde, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Glenn, of Mason City; one brother, Albert, of Clinton; one sister, Mrs. George Cox, of St. Louis, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Remains were taken to the Vancil funeral home where services were conducted.

Burial was in Indian Point cemetery.
