Rachel E. Belt, 84, of Lumberton died July 27, 2005 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital. She was born on March 1, 1921 in Louisiana and has been a resident of the golden triangle area for the past seventy years. Rachel worked for the White House Department Store as a sales clerk for twenty-five years. She is survived by her husband, John R. Belt, Sr. of Lumberton; John C. Sudduth and his wife Jill of Sugar Land; friends, Tom Kirby and his wife Hedy of Lumberton brother, C.G. Clauss of Oakdale, Louisiana; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Belt and John R. "B.J." Belt, III both of Lumberton. Rachel is preceded in death by her son, John R. Belt, Jr. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday July 30, 2005 at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive followed by a burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday evening July 29, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation, 4901 Main Street, Suite 200, Kansas City, Missouri 64112.
