Aviatrix and flight instructor. A graduate of UCLA and a member of flying fraternity Alpha Eta Rho, she earned her pilot's license at age 17. She also belonged to the 99 Club of Flying Women. She married plastering contractor Raymond Clithero in Dec. 1941 in Las Vegas. She was shot and killed by her husband after a day-long quarrel at their ranch near Laramie, Wyoming. Clithero then turned the gun on himself. Pretto Bell's funeral was held April 22, 1943 at Forest Lawn's Wee Kirk of the Heather. Her family's wish was that she be buried under her maiden name.
