March 8, 1931 Born in a House. Marjorie A. Gorton the baby daughter of Anna and Glenn Gorton, And sister of Donald Gorton, Dorthy Mae Gorton, Richard Bud Gorton, Rita Gorton.
Marjorie grew up and live in Lohrville Iowa. She work as a telephone operator on the old switch board system where there was more party lines than single phone lines. Back in those days to had go thru the operator in order to make a phone call. You turn a crack on side of the phone an operator voice would come on line and said number please. And you gave number or name and the operator would said hold the line please while I connected your call. These old phone system where hand crank. Nothing close like we have today. Marjorie attend school and graduate 1949 from Lohrville High School. After high school Marjorie thru a couple close friends Snowball Morgan and Joanne Fielding met the love of her life a boy from Farmhamville Iowa name of Donald F. Condon . This was a blind date. After several dates later, on April 20, 1952 Marjorie and Don where married. From here Don was drafted in the US Army and Marjorie was soon pregnant and gave to birth to Eugene D Condon 15 months later after they where married, than couple years later came Connie K Condon (Allen), than couple years later was Jerry L Condon, and last but not least Kristi A Condon (Shelton). Marjorie and Don ran an insurance business in Des Moines for several years. Don also sold used cars and travel the road making a living for his family While Marjorie attend to her kids. Marjorie went to work for Riverview Manor, and Heather Manor as a Nurse Aide. She help deliver Newspaper for the Des Moines Register. While the car business was going down, She did this trying to help Don meet the monthly bills. One day Don came home and decided to buy a funeral home in Slater Iowa, that was his dream to own and operate his own funeral home. Short after moving to Slater to run the funeral home Don past away of a heart of attack. And Marjorie was broken hearted. But she kept going son's Eugene, Jerry and Mom Marjorie try to keep it going until 1984 and funeral home had to close forever and Marjorie and 2 sons 1 daughter Eugene, Jerry, and Kristi moved to Texas 1985. Connie and her family moved to Texas shortly after wards There Marjorie work at Christian Care Center in Mesquite, Texas. As nurses aide Until she retire, She lived with her daughter Kristi and her husband Jeff until she past away September 23, 2010. From compilations from a fall she had at her home. At Baylor Hospital downtown Dallas Texas. Her Funeral will be Saturday September 25, 2010, 3:00 P.M. at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman Texas.
