Rockabilly Pioneer, Guitarist, Singer. Guitarist for the Memphis, Tennessee musical group, 'Johnny Burnette And The Rock 'N' Roll Trio,' along with Johnny Burnette as vocalist, and Dorsey Burnette on bass. The group had a recording contract with the Decca Records label who they recorded with until the group disbanded in March 1957. The group recorded many songs including, 'Tear It Up,' 'You're Undecided,' 'Oh Baby Baby,' 'Midnight Train,' 'Shattered Dreams,' 'The Train Kept A Rollin,' and 'Oh Baby,' among many others. In 1949, he became a Golden Glove Champion boxer, where he met Dorsey Burnette, who was also an amateur boxer. He later became a member of a country band after returning to Memphis, Tennessee, and later as a guitarist sit-in for blues musician Howlin' Wolf on the radio station KVEM and several club dates. In 1997, he recorded a solo album, "Train Kept A-Rollin'," that featured members of 'Los Lobos' and 'The Band.' Burlison's last album entitled, "Rock-A-Billy Country" was recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, with rockabilly artists, W. S. 'Fluke' Holland and Jerry Lee 'Smoochy' Smith. Burlison's last appearance was at the Memphis Music & Heritage Festival in August 2003.
