Mrs. Andrews was born to Willie & Dora Lee Anderson. She graduated from high school in Belton Texas with honors. In 1956, she earned an Associates of Arts Degree in Nursing from St. Phillips College. Afterwards, she became a Board Certified Nurse in Gastroenterology. On July 15, 1956, she married Hoyet H. ( Andy) Andrews, II (MSgt, USAF) in San Antonio. To their union were born two sons. She was a charter member of the Government Girl's Club, Inc., since 1960, holding the office of President from 1983-1985. She was a member of the Texas Women's Democratic Party & the San Antonio Black Women's Political Caucus. Mrs. Andrews distinguished herself professionally as the key person organizing the South Central Texas Regional Society of Gastrointestinal Assistants, Inc. She served as the chapter's first president & soon went on to hold both Regional & National Offices. Mrs. Andrews labored as a civil servant for over 30 years & retired as the Head Nurse, Gastrointestinal Laboratory, Gastroenterology Service, Department of Medicine, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas .
