Actor. Native of Akron, Ohio and raised in Waco, Texas, his credits included "Playhouse 90", "Four Star Playhouse", "Perry Mason" and "Sea Hunt". He is best known for playing the gravel voiced, low-keyed but authoritative Sgt. "Mac" MacDonald on the TV series "Adam-12". Known as one of the members of the 'Jack Webb Stock Company', his friendship with actor and producer Jack Webb, whom Boyett had worked with on the 1950s and 1960s versions of "Dragnet", led him to be cast to that role. His later years brought him work on daytime television as the father of the character of 'Luke Spencer' on "General Hospital" as well as roles on "Family Affair", "My Three Sons","Emergency!", "Knots Landing","Dear John", "Murphy Brown" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation". His other screen credits include "How the West Was Won" and the films "The Rocketeer" and "The Hidden". His distinct voice can be heard in the television commercials for Hamm's beer and Soft Scrub.
