American Tin Pan Alley song composer. A song arranger/plugger at the Jerome H. Remick Music Publishing Company. Befriended and assisted a young George Gershwin with the latter's career when starting at Remick's and also helped with one of Gershwin's early compositions, "Rialto Ripples" (1916), receiving credit as co-creator of the composition. (This work is also known by the title "Oriental Blues", the theme music of TV comic pioneer Ernie Kovacs.) Later worked in Hollywood for the motion picture industry. There is also a claim (although no definite proof has been substantiated) that he was responsible for the Campbell's Soup jingle ("M'm! M'm! Good!").
