Murder victim. In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 27, 1980, Adam Miranda and Arnold Gonzales attempted to rob a 7-Eleven convenience store in the community of Eagle Rock in Los Angeles. When the robbery failed, they departed and approached a nearby AM-PM mini-market. They held-up the two clerks working there, Gary Black and Kelly Chandler. In the process, Miranda, who was carrying a gun, fired at Black, killing him instantly, and also seriously wounded Chandler. The event was recorded by a video surveillance camera set-up in the store. Both Miranda and Gonzales were later sentenced with the death penalty.
