Young Wayne Mullendore and his cousin Ronald Johnson were murdered in a "thrill slaying" in their home town of Rockford, Illinois. They were both 14 years old and had gone out together to visit a friend and were never seen alive again. They were found in a concrete shelter in Levings Park where they had both been shot in the back of the head and in the stomach. They were both described as good boys who participated in school, sports and church activities. They both attended seventh grade at Wilson Junior High School. Their killer was sentenced to two life terms.
