She was born on July 24, 1895, in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Bessie Jane (Welch) and John Hatfield Cribb. Her mother was an immigrant from England in 1890; and her father immigrated in 1886 from Austria. Her father, John, passed away 62 years before Laura on April 15, 1912, during the sinking of the RMS Titanic.

Laura is survived by three daughters, Virginia Eileen Williams (husband, Louis) of Wilmington, DE, Elizabeth Ellen Kendall (husband, Frank Gambler) of Atlanta, GA, and Shirley Mae Carroll (husband, Henry) of Lompoc, CA; and two sons, Howard John Stephen Buzzell of Carthage, NY, and Ernest Millard Buzzell, of Gouveneur, NY; and one brother, Ernest Cribb of London, England; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
