Russian dancer. In her home dance was a family affair. Her father, Konstantin Bogdanova, trained her and with him she performed La Sylphide at the age of twelve. The family, including her mother who was Tatiana Karpakova, toured with its own troupe.
In 1850 they moved to Paris and Nadezhda eventually became the Paris Opera's principal dancer from 1851 to 1855. Her most illustrious parts were the lead roles in Giselle, La Sylphide an Esmeralda. When she first danced Giselle in St Petersburg on November the 2nd she recieved 42 curtain calls.
She returned to Russia where she was much admired in St Petersburg and Moscow for her lyrical style.
She danced with the Bolshoi until 1864 until she fell out of favour with the management.
She spent the last three years of her career performing in Berlin, Budapest, Vienna and Warsaw.
She retired prematurely in 1867
