The angel of death visited our community on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 and took from our midst our loved one, Mr. Billy Eugene Baker, Sr. Billy was born May 01, 1933 in Clarksville, Texas to the late Charlie and Julie Mae Baker.
He received his early education at Cheatum High School in clarksville, Texas.
In 1953 he moved to Hobbs, NM where he met his soul mate, Ludesta Hanson. They were united for fifty-seven wonderful years.
He loved attending church, spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching Family Fued with Steve Harvey, fishing, taking long walks, picking up cans, and his passion was his business (Finishing Cement). He started his business in the late 1960s where he worked until retirement.
He leaves to mourn: His wife, Ludesta Baker; three sons, Jiles Roy Brown, Billy Eugene Baker, Jr. and Anthony Lapaul Baker; five daughters, Lillian Marie Ellis, JoAnna Hanson, Peggy Jean Cox (James), Brenda Nell Baker Lawson (Gary, and Lavern Baker Tate; one brother, Curtis Joe Baker; two sisters, Nellie Louise Armitige (A.D.) and Hazel Marie Robinson (G.L.); nineteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Baker; mother, Julie Mae Baker; one brother, Willie Ray Baker, Sr.; two sisters, Charlene Baker and Pearline Baker Barnes; and one grandson, Brian Keith Ellis.
