Garnet Ruth Batti, passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 94 years, on Saturday, December 15, 2012, in Tulare, California. Garnet was born on December 28th, 1917, on a small farm, in Earlimart, California. Garnet received her unique first name after the January birthstone, in which her mother believed would be the month of her birth date. Although, Garnet was born in the month of December, her mother felt very blessed to have a daughter and was certain that she had another "jewel".

Garnet was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Clara Franklin; one brother, Arthur Franklin; and one sister, Crystal Mills.

Garnet married her belated husband, Rome Batti, on September 10, 1942, after they met each other at a local square dance. During her later years of life, Garnet openly expressed that her square dancing days with Rome were some of the happiest days of her life. She stated that he could really swing her "round and round" and they had a lot of good laughs and memorable times together. Together they made their home out on their country farm in Tulare, where they raised their son, Gary and daughter, Edeanne. Rome and Garnet were married for 62 years, until he passed away at home in July 2005.

Garnet was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was kind to those she came in contact with, whether they were young or very old. She always greeted people with a smile and made each person she met feel special inside. Garnet enjoyed writing her own personal letters and mailed countless cards to family and friends both near and far. Her uplifting messages were always heartfelt and were graciously received by her recipients. Garnet had a very loving heart and was always looking for ways in which she could lend a helping hand to others. Family was always at the top of her priority list and she showed her love for them in innumerable ways.

If there was one word that would best describe the kind of a woman Garnet truly was, it would be "classy". She always took pride in looking her very best, especially when she went out on the town. She was a country girl at heart and never took for granted the simple things in life. She always remembered the so-called "good old days" and never realized how good they truly were until she was much older.

In her spare time Garnet enjoyed going for her daily walks with Rome, working in her rose garden, canning fruits and vegetables, sewing, cooking, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous family members and close friends. Garnet truly took after her namesake for she was without a doubt a very "special jewel" to everyone who knew her.

Garnet is survived by her son Gary Batti and his wife Maria Batti of Tulare, California and her daughter, Edeanne Batti Howes, of Hanford, California. She leaves behind her gandchildren Jana Tackett of Tulare, CA; Gina Howes Boshears of Hot Springs, AR; Lisa Weatherford of Tulare, CA; Brandi Givens of Stanwood, WA; Eric Batti of Visalia, CA; Dustin Howes of Austin, TX and Marci Goss of Tulare, CA. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren Joshua, Andrew and Caleb Tackett of Tulare, CA; Reagan and Chance Boshears of Hot Springs, AR; Kelsee and Kylee Weatherford of Tulare, CA; Bryson and Marissa Givens of Stanwood, WA; Makaylin and Autumn Batti of Visalia, CA; and Trayver Goss and Brooklynn Brooks of Tulare, CA.
