Chuck Frach was the son of Phillip C. Frach and Elizabeth Hoegner Frach, both German immigrants. He attended Flathead High School in Kalispell, Montana, where he was on the football team. His father died when he was young, and he went to work early in life. He worked while attending school. He had a lifelong love of all thing mechanical, and owned a Conoco station and a Texaco station, both in Kalispell. He fought in World War II, and served in Okinawa. He was also a square dance caller, and enjoyed hunting for rocks, minerals and gemstones. He was married to Peggy Frach, who died in 1968. Chuck and Peggy had two children, Carol and Jim. He later married Dorothy Frach, and preceded her in death.
