Millicent, a very sweet little Miniature Pinscher, was rescued in her old age. It is suspected that she had been used as breeding stock, possibly in a puppy mill. She was found in wretched condition, malnourished and partially blind. After having escaped, she was found wandering with a group of wild dogs. She was taken to an animal shelter, but initially, nobody wanted her because she was elderly. On the day she was scheduled to be euthanized, however, she was rescued and re-homed. For two years, Milly brought great joy to her new family. She was loved and cared for. She gained weight and became much more healthy. She had a very distinctive prancing gait, and was quite striking to look at after regaining her health. She made her new owners very happy, and enjoyed being with her new doggie family, too. She especially admired her new best friend, a Miniature Pinscher named Genghis. Anywhere Genghis went, Milly had to go. She loved that dog, and always wanted to be near him. She also had close canine friends named Punkin, Julius, and Annabel Lee. In early August of 2006, Milly fell ill. She deteriorated rapidly, and on the morning of August 6th, she peacefully passed away at the foot of her favorite sofa. She is survived by her family, composed both of human and animal friends who loved her very much--including her beloved companion, Genghis. It's hard to believe that Milly is gone, but we're thankful for the blessing of having known this wonderful animal, and are grateful for the time that we were able to spend with her.
