Joseph had a great love for education and teaching his students how to be successful in business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and his wonderful hunting dogs, but most of all, Joseph was devoted to his wife, Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Barton-Dobenin, of Weslaco, Texas; sister-in-law, Milena Barton-Dobenin; and many nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Baron Joseph and Libuse Novack; brothers, Cyril Barton-Dobenin and George Barton-Dobenin; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Dorothy York, Robert and Joy York, Florene and William Hyberger, Helen and Keith Engelbart; Sister James York and Father Paul York. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 28 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Manhattan, KS, with burial to follow at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, KS. Funeral services are under the direction of Henry Thomae Funeral Home, 701 N. Bowie, San Benito, TX.
