Retired engineer Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Anderson, 70, of Columbia died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital.

His wife of 52 years, June Rushing Anderson, survives.

Anderson leaves some in-laws, who live in Henry County.

His funeral will be at 10 AM at Graymere Church of Christ in Columbia, where he was a member and had formerly served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. John Vaughan and Wendell Robinson will officiate.

Chosen as pallbearers are Gerald and Chad Howard, Max and Johnny Paschall, Tommy Rushing, Claytus Wilson and Charles Rushing.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM today and 1-8 PM Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia.

Born Oct. 8, 1934, in Dearborn, Mich., he was a son of the late Wayne and Alice Davis Anderson.

He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1963.

He worked for Union Carbide Corp. from 1967-1992. A family member said he was an avid golfer and bridge player.

He also leaves a daughter: Allison (Pat) Patterson of Ooltewah; a son: Jonathan Wayne (Sharlene) Anderson of Columbia;

A brother: Robert "Bob" (Jean) Anderson of Spring City; a grandchild: Kaitlyn Patterson of Ooltewah; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Timothy Hill Children's Ranch, 298 Middle Road, Riverhead, N.Y. 11901.
