A planter, businessman and cattleman of East Feliciana Parish, he died at his home at Blairstown Plantation, Clinton, Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. He was 88, born Dec. 31, 1909, in St. Francisville.

Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Visiting at Clinton Methodist Church, Clinton, 10 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Tom Logan and the Rev. Darwin Brecheen. Burial in Masonic Cemetery.

Survived by his children, Elizabeth Reeves Jones, Ann Reiley Jones, Tom Spec Jones IV and Bob Gilmer Jones, all of Blairstown Plantation; grandchildren, John S. "Chip" Coulter and wife, Ann Allen Coulter, Kathryn Elizabeth Jones and husband, Donald Caillier, and Reiley Lynn Jones; a great-grandchild, Carolyn Elizabeth Coulter; a brother, Dr. Jack Reiley Jones, Richland Plantation, Norwood; cousins, Dr. J.H. McClendon, Amite, Mrs. Claiborne Dameron, Mrs. Carroll Boling and Mrs. Melvin Henry, ngs Jones; a sister-in-law, Emily Samuel Jones; and parents, Dr. and Mrs. Tom Spec Jones III.

He was a graduate of LSU where he was commander of Sigma Nu fraternity and attended Texas A&M Veterinary Medicine School. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Country Club, a charter member of the Baton Rouge Assembly, a member of Clinton Methodist Church, president and member of East Feliciana Parish Police Jury for 30 years, a founding member and president of the board of directors of Dixie Electric Membership Corp., Brahman research programs, making his property available to students and professors for more than 50 years.

Pallbearers will be John S. "Chip" Coulter, Jesse B. McClendon, Jack Reiley Jones Jr., Frank King Jones, David A. Anderson, Malcolm L. Tucker, James W. Tucker Jr. and Dennis Randall Aucoin Sr. Honorary pallbearers are former and present members of the boards of directors of Clinton Bank and Trust Co., Dixie Electric Membership Corp. and Tri-Parish Agricultural Cooperative, John W.
