He later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he met and was joined in holy matrimony to Dorothy E. Mayhew on March 30, 1974. This union was blessed with three children, Arronda, Twanda and Shernita. He attended Temple University's night school where he obtained a Business Degree.
Mr. Bailey was a long time employee of Provident National Bank as a Payroll Supervisor. He also worked many years as a part time employee at the Spectrum. When George retired from Provident he went back to school and became a Certified Network Engineer. He then returned to the work force and worked at Exxon Mobil as an Independent Consultant for fifteen years.
In his leisure time, George enjoyed all sports, but basketball and football were his favorites. He loved watching TV and Star Trek was one of the shows he enjoyed most in the 1970's. He often joked that he was a "Trekkie". George loved vacationing with his family by going to Atlantic City "getaways". He will always be remembered as saying "I'm not making any promises, we'll see what happens.." He left this life and was called home on Saturday, June 9, 2012.
He Leaves to rejoice in his memory: his wife Evangelist Dorothy E. Bailey; three daughters, Arronda L. Johnson, Twanda R. Owens and Shernita L. Bailey; two sons-in-law, Mark R. Johnson, Sr., and Keith A. Owens; Ten grandchildren, DeSean, Markell, Brittany, Michael, Victoria, Brandon, Makia, Jahna, Asia, and Mark, Jr.; two sisters Barbara Clark (John) and Glendora Lassiter, one brother Robert Lee; a special niece, Shona Clark (God Daughter); two close buddies Tony and Randy; an extended family in Jacksonville, Florida; and host of other relatives and friends.
