Naoma Belle Batman, 94, of Garden City, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City.

She was born May 2, 1915, in Ingalls, to Wilson and Evaline Stinemetz Barton. She grew up in Gray County, attended Cimarron schools and graduated from Ingalls High School in 1933.

Mrs. Batman lived in Gray County and Ingalls until moving to Garden City in 1984. A homemaker and farm wife, she worked for a short time at Farmers State Bank in Ingalls. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Ingalls and belonged to the Altar Society.

On Oct. 13, 1934, she married Harold G. Batman in Ingalls. He died Sept. 18, 1978. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gordon Barton; and a sister, Edna Johnson.

Survivors include four children, Gordon Dennis Batman of Garden City, Mary Louise Rohrbaugh of Caldwell, Harold Robert "Butch" Batman of McLouth, and Constance Suzanne Janzen of Kinsley; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Vigil service and rosary was at 7:00P.M. on Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the church, with the Rev. Wesley Schawe as the celebrant. Burial at Cimarron Cemetery.

Visitation was until 5 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009, at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Condolences may be sent at [email protected]. Memorials are suggested to Gray County Historical Society/Doc Barton, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
