Widely considered one of the greatest jazz and blues singers.

Born in Oklahoma City Jimmy Rushing came from a musical family. When Count Basie formed his Orchestra in 1935, Jimmy was his singer and stayed until 1950. He did a two year gig at the Savoy Ballroom and traveled internationally. Some of his songs were: "Sent for You Yesterday and Here You Come Today", "Good Morning Blues". and "Harvard Blues". He earned the nickname "Mr. Five by Five" because of his rotund shape. He died at the age of 68.
