Retired Vice President of Community Relations for the former Cambridgeport Savings Bank, died peacefully on October 20, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. Teddy, as she was affectionately known, was born in Melrose, MA, but grew up in Onset. She often shared happy memories of her childhood on Cape Cod. Teddy lived most of her life in Everett with her adored family. She was the loving daughter of Christos and Anio Arvanites.

Theodora graduated Everett High School in 1947 and from Boston University, College of Liberal Arts, in 1951, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Upon graduation, she went to work at Cambridgeport Savings Bank for the summer, but stayed for her entire career. She once said that she did not intend to make banking her life but banking became her life. During Teddy's 52 year tenure at Cambridgeport, her wisdom, business acumen, and genuine ability to lead, coupled with her excellent people skills and quiet and gentle demeanor, won her well-deserved recognition and honors in numerous area organizations.

She served worthily in a variety of capacities including board positions in the following: Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge YMCA, The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross, Central Square Business Association, Cambridge City Council, The Rotary Club, Brighton Board of Trade, among others. The naming of the Theodora "Teddy" Arvanites Square, Cambridge, in 2003 was one of the highlights of her distinguished career and reflected her locally known and honored achievements. Her tireless efforts and dedication to the Cambridge business community and the City were celebrated by the members of the Cambridge City Council and community friends. Theodora was also a dedicated member of her church, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England, Boston, and served on a number of parish committees.

Teddy was predeceased by her loving parents, Christos and Anio Arvanites and her beloved brother, James and his wife, Ruth. She leaves her devoted sister, Dr. Marica Arvanites, a nephew, James Arvanites, three nieces, Patricia, Christa, Catherine, and an adored grandniece, Michelle and grandnephew, Christopher, and many relatives and friends.
