A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Decie May Thompson. Mrs. McBay retired from Serbin Fashion after 34 years of service and was a life long member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter Brenda Jean and husband Kenny of Kelso, a son Dennis McBay and wife Diana of Fayetteville, grandchildren Christy Jean of Kelso, LeAnna Dendy and husband Jason of Hillsboro, TN, Jana McBay of Fayetteville, Jay McBay of Fayetteville, Jeremy McBay of Fayettevile and Chase McBay of Fayetteville, seven great grandchildren, sister Dot O'Neal and husband Bobby of Fayetteville, several nieces and nephews and a special friend Annie Anderson.
Annie Anderson was Mardell's 5 year roomate at Lincoln Care Center, a place they both called "home". In 5 years of being roomates they never had a cross word between them and were like two peas in a pod, if one went to play bingo, the other went too, if one wanted to eat in the room the other stayed too. Both loved each other and their families considered the other one very special. Mardell's grandchildren called Ms. Annie "Granny Annie".
