In 1895 her first grandchild was born to her son John M. and Eva Marie Steadman Fleming and her name was Lillian. However, Eva died shortly after that and John left Lillian w/ his mother Rachel to raise. In 1902 John M. married again but he still left his daughter Lillian to live w/ her grandparents Rachel and John H Fleming when he and his new wife left for their new home in GA.
Rachel died in 1929, one year short of another census, but I haven't located her in 1920 where she would have been a widow of husband John.
It is letters written to Rachel and John that Rachel kept tied w/ a string and pictures that has enabled us to know so much about her and her family. One letter written to Rachel is from her brother-in-law J.G. Lytle, husband of her sister Margaret "Maggie". The letter is written on the letterhead Sherriff of Mercer, Pennsylvania written by Sherriff J.G. Lytle himself.
