Son of Clarence Wilkerson and Lucille Florene Coffman Adams. Wayne was a driver for the Mason Dixon Truck Lines, a Army veteran, stationed in Germany early on in his service, some of his service was in Kentucky where his first Rusty was born. His obit says he served in the Vietnam War. According to his oldest son, Rusty, this is incorrect, his dad was in the Army, his only overseas duty was in Germany as mentioned above but he never served in Viet Nam, this was a miss print from the informant of his obit and whoever ordered the stone. A very seasoned researcher once told me that the information given on a deceased person is only as good as the information the informant knows themselves. Meaning that even if it an official document such as a birth cert, marriage license, military data, death cert, even if it is etched in stone as here on his headstone then that doesn't make it so.

Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain Howard L Fulk officiating. Burial will be held in Rest Cemetery Frederick Co. Virginia. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7-9 today.

Rusty and Randy are his first two sons by first wife Micky Ann Moyers Adams of Athens, Al, they divorced and afterward she and their boys stayed in her hometown in Alabama while Wayne moved to another state, Virginia, where he met Patricia Hockensmith and married her. Patricia was going by her maiden name even though she had a son named Jason as mentioned in the obit. After their marriage, Wayne adopted Jason Allen Hockensmith when he was in the third grade, and gave him the Adams surname. Jason says he remembered when his name changed to Adams.
Any service member who serves 180 days on active duty and did not have a dishonorable
discharge is considered a veteran. War time periods since Korean War are:
