He was the eldest child of Mary Grace Dwyer and John A Jackson. His family called him "Garnett" and during his short life he lived in Missouri, Kansas, and Louisiana. Private First Class in Company H 61st Infantry 5th Division, he had enlisted in the Army in January of 1918 and by October he had died of wounds received in action. His mother Mary Grace (Dwyer) Ruskoski chose to visit her son's grave in 1930 as part of the Mother's Pilgrimage sponsored by the War Department of the United States Government.
