Hattie (Jadewija) was born to George and Maria Ann Konieczny Brongel - both immigrants from Galicia. Hattie was one of nine children. She married Peter Broviak on July 7, 1925, in St. Valentine's Church in Peru, Ill. The Broviaks ran a gas station and car repair garage on Peoria Street in Peru. Peter and Hattie raised three children.
