-------
Robert Siodmak was a film director in Hollywood. During the 1940s and 1950s, he directed some of the best of the so-called "film noir" movies ever made. He directed "The Killers," "Criss Cross," "Christmas Holiday," "The File of Thelma Jordan," "Phantom Lady," "Cry of the City," and many, many more.
He co-wrote the screenplay for the Academy Award-winning movie "On The Waterfront."
He directed some of the greatest actors in American cinema including Barbara Stanwyck, Burt Lancaster, Gene Kelly, Deanna Durbin, Ava Gardner, and Yvonne DeCarlo.
He remains underrated and underappreciated for his enormous contribution to American cinema. He left us some of the most marvelous and spell-binding film noir movies ever made in the history of motion pictures.
