BYRD Jensen Daniel Byrd, age 5, died at home in Gulf Shores, AL on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Jensen led a valiant fight with Neuro-blastoma for the past 2 .5 years. He was a true inspiration to all who knew him. Born April 7, 2005 in Foley, AL to Lynn and Melissa Byrd, Jensen had attended Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Mother's Day Out and Holy Spirit Preschool and was looking forward to starting kindergarten this year. Jensen and his family were members of Gulfway Assembly of God in Gulf Shores and are extremely grateful for the support he and his family have received during this battle from both Pastor Bruce and Pastor Brandon and their entire church family. Jensen will especially be remembered by all who knew him for his bright blue eyes and beautiful smile. He was quite the charmer, with numerous "girl" friends and had mastered every game on the Nintendo Wii. Survivors include his parents, Lynn and Melissa Byrd, and big sister, Jayden all of Gulf Shores, AL; grandparents Peggy(John) Davis of Gulf Shores and Jerry (Vickie) Byrd and Sue Price; great grandmother, Thelma Little all of Bay Minette, AL, Uncles; Mack (Stacey) Byrd, Brad Byrd, and Jason Price all of Bay Minette, AL. Jensen is also survived by a large extended family and many friends who loved him so much. Jensen is preceded in death by his grandfather, Daniel Price. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 3:00pm at Gulfway Assembly Church, 541 Cotton Creek Drive, Gulf Shores, AL. Burial will be held private for the family only. The family will receive friends Friday, August 27, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Gulfway Assembly of God Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Jensen Byrd Fund at any Regions Bank. The Byrd family wishes to assist families still fighting this battle that have personally touched their lives. Thanks to the numerous doctors who have cared for Jensen, but especially Dr Chris Frailie of South Baldwin Regional, Dr. Gary Eberly of Foley and the numerous doctors and staff at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York City for their help and support.
